‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 9 spoilers: Camilla Luddington on Jo, Alex’s future
It has taken quite a while on “Grey’s Anatomy” for Dr. Alex Karev to get a potential love interest that rivals Izzie Stevens, but he may finally have it in Camilla Luddington’s intern Jo. Unfortunately, the one issue the two are facing right now is that they are still not actually together, even if they have slowly built a relationship over the course of the past several weeks.
So what does the actress behind the character have to say about the possibility that Jo and Alex are destined to be together? In a new interview with TVLine, Luddington (who you may have been familiar with prior to the show for her roles playing Kate Middleton and a fairy on “True Blood” season 5) acknowledged a recent quote from Shonda Rhimes that Alex is supposed to find a great love this season in formulating her answer:
“I read those quotes too. [But] things change all the time. I didn’t even know that Jo was homeless and that had a foster upbringing. That wasn’t mentioned to me until five episodes in. They’re careful about keeping information from us. I am a fan of Grey’s, and I love Alex — as much as he is a jerk. I’ve seen him go through all the peaks and valleys with relationships. So, of course, thought, ‘God I hope I’m the one for him,’ because I love him as a character.”
As for Jo’s future on the show, there is an option for Luddington to return as a series regular next year; and while she is unsure at the moment just what Rhimes wants or plans to do (mostly because she has a knack for killing characters at the drop of a hat), she explains that she would love to be back for more.
Are you enjoying Luddington’s character on “Grey’s Anatomy,” or do you admittedly still struggle with seeing Alex post-Izzie? Be sure to share your thoughts below, and you can watch a new preview for Thursday’s new episode “The Face of Change” over at the link here.
