NBC’s ‘Community’ season 4 promo: Germans don’t hold a grudge
Are you ready for “Community” season 4 to finally come on the air? Let’s hope so, as the show is getting set already to make its big return to NBC Thursday night with comedy, quirkiness, and hopefully the same sort of charm still that we saw when Dan Harmon was calling the shots as primary showrunner.
As for the latest promo for the season, let’s just say that this one is more of an homage to “Die Hard” that it is a feature highlighting some of the actual story that is going to be told during the season. We have violence, a twist on a classic line from Bruce Willis, and just a straight-up shoutout to the third edition of the movie franchise while Abed is seemingly in an argument with the same Germans that Shirley and Jeff famously squared off against in a game of ping-pong.
At the moment, what makes us the happiest is simply that NBC is putting some sort of effort into getting the show off to a decent start. The network’s entire lineup is at the moment floundering, especially when you look at such comedies as “Guys with Kids,” “Whitney,” “Go On,” “The New Normal,” and “1600 Penn.” While we did not imagine in September that “Community” could get a season 5, all it would really need to do is draw a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic on average and be in better shape than any of these shows in the past month. It also had the advantage of another season being what the show needs to break it into syndication, which is something that none of these other shows have going for them.
So it let be known to all “Community” fans: watch the show Thursday, and watch it live. “The Big Bang Theory” and “American Idol” will not miss you nearly as bad.
