‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: The latest on Paul Wesley, Claire Holt

Are you now officially shipping “Stebekah” on “The Vampire Diaries”? If so, we certainly understand. While Claire Holt and Paul Wesley were not actors that we had on our radar as a possible onscreen couple early on this season, there’s a part of us that actually enjoys this more than any other pairing on the show right now. There is a certain sort of levity and joy between the two characters that we have not quite seen with Stefan and Rebekah, mostly because the two are so constantly transfixed on whatever crisis is currently in front of them.

Meanwhile, Stefan seems more willing here to be spontaneous with his new love interest, and this includes giving her something during Thursday night’s new episode (per the photo to the left via ET Online) that she has always wished for in some ways: an opportunity to be the belle of the ball at a school dance. Her brother Klaus has basically found a way to ruin just about every event that she has tried to attend in the past year and a half, and this dance-for-two (so long as they are the only two in fact in attendance) could be a landmark moment in whatever sort of relationship that they have moving forward.

So what else is next for these two? In addition to fooling around a little bit, they do also have a plan to force Professor Shane into trying to work with them when it comes to the vampire cure, mostly because the person that they both know that they are fully at odds with is none other than Klaus (yet again). Then again, there is also another threat roaming around there in Kol, and he is so dangerous at the moment that a good percentage of the characters on the show want him dead before he pulls something crazy.
