‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Michael C. Hall talks new addition to the cast
If you recall, earlier this week we shared some details on a pair of new characters for “Dexter” season 8, including a criminologist and a private investigator that could give Dexter Morgan some trouble following the death of his boss Maria LaGuerta. Now, we know just what Michael C. Hall thinks about one of these additions.
In a new interview with Awards Circuit, the actor does not necessarily mention Charlotte Rampling’s character of Dr. Evelyn Vogel by name, but based on just what he is saying and the woman’s supposed talent for dealing with young psychopaths and getting insider of their heads, everything certainly seems to line up rather well:
“A new character will help Dexter experience a dynamic that he hasn’t up to this point. An older female. This never really been a real time exploration for Dexter. We found out about how his birth mother was killed in front of him, but he never had a real time flash-in-blood, somewhat maternal figure with whom to interact.”
While we sincerely hope that this does not become one of those “psychos with mommy issues” stories, it would be interesting to see Dexter develop this sort of relationship given that it is not one that he has particularly had over the course of the show. The only real person in his life to enforce any sort of morality upon him is Harry, and the man is dead and only speaks to Dexter as his conscience. Evelyn, meanwhile, is someone who could impose some sort of opinions on Dexter with real-world consequences, and could help Dexter to feasibly understand something about himself that he did not realize previously.
Based on what Hall is saying here, are you more or less excited about the prospect of this character? If you want to see what Hall also has to say about the show’s move to summer this year, you can find out more details over at the link here.
