‘Once Upon a Time’ season 2 spoilers: Captain Hook heads … home?

Colin O'DonoghueWhile you can complain if you want about there being too many characters on “Once Upon a Time,” one of the advantages to having such a robust cast is that it presents such a plethora of different opportunities to flash back to different fairy-tale worlds, and see so many things that test the imagination of the viewers. (Take, for an example, a world where everything is black and white.)

One such world that we could be visiting later this year is none other than Neverland, even if we are not set to meet Peter Pan for the rest of the season. Speaking in a new interview with TV Guide, executive producer Edward Kitsis explains that going back to Captain Hook’s roots is currently something that is very much on their minds:

“We do know Hook spent some time there. I will be interested to see what it looks like.”

On a sadder note, those of you hoping to see Oz this season may be rather sad to hear that we will not be seeing the homeland of Dorothy Gale or any other character from this world during any part of season 2. (It’s still up in the air as to if any of these characters will show up for now, but we doubt it.) There is such a rich backlog for the showrunners to take material from, and we figure some work such as “Aladdin” and “The Wizard of Oz” is being left open for seasons 3 and 4, in addition to the long-rumored appearance from “The Little Mermaid.” While there as been talk of seeing Ariel for some time, it is looking increasingly unlikely that she will show up this year.

With all the characters that have been introduced on “Once Upon a Time” already this year, are you all right with rolling with the ones we have over necessarily adding more to the cast? If you want to see the first photo of Cassidy Freeman on the show as Jack, you can find that over at the link here.
