‘Dexter’ season 8: Michael C. Hall talks future following end of series
While “Dexter” season 8 has yet to start actually filming, Michael C. Hall is making the publicity rounds at the moment for a completely different reason: promoting his role in the film “Kill Your Darlings” at the Sundance Film Festival. This is of course one of the biggest film-related events of the entire year, so Hall of course had plenty of opportunities to talk about this role in addition to his hit Showtime show.
While Hall admitted in a video interview with Hollywire (which you can see below) that he was probably going to miss being the “decisive” character that Dexter Morgan is, he was a bit more ambiguous when talking about his own future as an actor when the show is over:
“I’m excited to see what comes next. Anything more specific than that I’m hard-pressed to say [what will happen]. Things like ‘Dexter,’ that’s something that I couldn’t quite imagine before it came to pass. I’d like to believe that the future holds things that I can’t quite imagine right now.”
While the general feeling that we get from both Hall and Jennifer Carpenter is that this will indeed be the final season of the drama, that has still not been confirmed. It appears as though the real decision here will rest in the hands of the network, which had to be more than thrilled with the record ratings that the drew through all of 2012. (Of course, they still would want to make sure that there would be a story to tell if the show does end up returning.)
