‘The X Factor’ USA notes: Tate Stevens, Khloe Kardashian, Fifth Harmony
For our Saturday edition of “The X Factor” USA notes, it feels appropriate that we kick things off by talking about something that actually still involves to the show: the debate as to whether or not Khloe Kardashian and MArio Lopez are going to be back hosting the show for season 3.
From the evidence that is currently out there, we’re a little on the fence about the hosts’ future. Khloe did well when was off-the-cuff, but struggled when she actually had to read the teleprompter; meanwhile, Mario was pretty much terrible all around as he came across as robotic and unsympathetic to the contestants trying to make their dreams come true. (He actually made Ryan Seacrest feel warm and fuzzy.)
As for what Khloe is actually saying about the gig, she told E! News in a new interview that she “hopes” that she will be back, but acknowledges that this decision will as always be made at the last minute. The one other facet you have to consider here is cost: if you want to bring the host with you on the road, that costs money … and it would surely be cheaper for Fox to pay one host instead of two. “Britain’s Got Talent” is really the only competition show we can think of that is better with two hosts, and Ant & Dec have been performing with each other for some time.
Tate Stevens gives back – For anyone who thought that Tate Stevens was lacking in the heart department (which is thankfully pretty much no one), all you have to do is look at the following story to know just how caring of a man the guy is.
The reigning champ recently posted a series of photos on his Intagram that showed himself alongside some children that he met while at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital recently. It’s beyond a nice thing for him to have done, as he’s giving these kids a little bit of light when they don’t really have many opportunities to have any. Plus, he took time out of a busy writing and recording schedule to do so.
A Fifth Harmony mini-reunion – While many of the members of Simon Cowell’s recetly-signed girl group have taken some time over the past month to relax in their hometowns with their respective families, the group will be coming together again soon to start recording some music … and there was a small reunion happening earlier this week.
While the announcement about the Syco / Epic Records deal was coming down, AllyBrooke Hernandez and Normani Kordei were actually spending some time together in New Orleans .. otherwise known as one of the nice places to go in America this time of the year courtesy of the weather and the fine food. Hopefully, the group will get started making some new music soon.

Mario Lopez was a pro and he did a excellent job.Would love to see him back. Khloe, she did a below average job, I wouldn’t be disappointed if they don’t bring her back. She was very hard to look at and listen too.Bring on a female pro host, like one of the host entertainment news or music shows–> ET, MTV,CMT etc….

Mario Lopez was a great host. He made up what khloe clearly lacked.

Mario Lopez performed as a top rate pro. I agree that he was more a fascilitator than emotional, but season 2 will likely be better in that respect. Khloe started off badly (no experience), but got steadier as she went. Again, she’ll be far better in her 2nd season. Once the procedural hoops are down solid, the host can then add their personality to their routine, because they won’t worry as much about keeping all acts and interviews on track, time wise. It’ll be routine. Khloe covered for Mario on the emotional front, which was a strength of hers IMO. I read Khloe was paid only $1 million, and whether they keep her may depend on how much she wants to do the show next year. I think they will make a very good team next year, if they return. Khloe and 2 other Kardashians alone, have 35 million twitter followers. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out why Simon desired Khloe on his team.
