‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’: First look at Lance Armstrong – Oprah Winfrey interview
There have not been many chances for Oprah Winfrey to say that the world will be watching her network, but on Thursday evening it will very much be the case. The talk-show queen is set to air her entire interview with disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong as a part of her “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” and there was actually so much material covered that this will ultimately end up bleeding into two nights.
The network’s first teaser for the special sadly only does a great job at one thing: showing us absolutely nothing. We still have no idea whether or not Armstrong admits to doping in the interview, and nor do we have an idea that Oprah really holds first to her promise of having an interview where there are no restrictions.
We imagine that there is really just one thing that the world wants to hear from this interview at this point: the truth. They want to know whether or not Armstrong lied for all of these years about doping allegations, and if he did how he managed to cheat the system of testing and why he made the lives of so many people close to him miserable for making so many accusations at them following their claims that they saw him use.
By the time the interview is over, the one question we wonder if viewers will ask is if it is possible to really compartmentalize a man like Armstrong who is in many any ways like a two-sided coin. On one hand, you have a man who may be known as one of the biggest cheaters in sports history if the allegations turn out to be true; meanwhile, on the other hand you have a man who raised tens of millions of dollars to help fight cancer through his Livestrong charity.

This man has lived for so many years with the deepest sense of entitlement I have ever known! He robbed so many other honest and hard working – equally entitled to win – of their moment, their glory. How dare he decide to come out, knowing full well that his interview will raise someone elses ratings to the max. And aside from the ratings, I cant help but wonder if Opra will rip into him (figure of speach) the way she did with the man who wrote A Million Little Pieces (I think that was the name of the book). This entire thing offends me to no end!!!
