‘Supernatural’ season 8 spoilers: More about Sam, Dean, and time travel
While on most shows the concept of time travel is something that is worthy of rolling your eyes at, this is surely not the case on “Supernatural” by any means. As a matter of fact, the show’s upcoming hour themed largely around Sam and Dean getting a visit from their paternal grandfather is one of the more promising hours coming up later on in season 8.
Just in case you were wondering what sort of Pandora’s box is going to be opened by this man turning up, we turn to executive producer Jeremy Carver. Speaking within a new interview with TVLine, he explains that any issues the Winchesters had with their own father, they are going to be amped up to a new and very weird level when this man turns up with his rather unique connection to the family:
“When you meet your father’s father, that brings up some of your father issues. In other words, what did your father’s father have to do with the way your father turned out? … A lot of that is explored head-on.”
By the end of this episode, perhaps Sam and Dean will learn something about their own mythology that is valuable to them moving forward; and even if they don’t, we are still intrigued over some of the possibilities that could still come out of the story just from an entertainment. After taking a few risks this season that have not worked out with fans (Amelia being the major one), this is something that Carver really needs to swing for the fences with.

Season 8 has been awesome. I really think the inclusion of Amelia was bold and I am looking forward to learning more about where the writer’s were going with her character. They haven’t really spent alot of screen time with her to date. Looking forward to the paternal grandfather being on the show. I can’t imagine what they will learn so it will probably be something quite big.
Happy New Year!
