‘Dexter’ season 8 spoilers: Who will be suspicious of the latest kill?
Even though we are just over 24 hours removed from the “Dexter” season 7 finale, that is not stopping us by any means from having all sorts of burning questions about what we are going to potentially see during the show’s eighth and final season. One of the biggest ones at the moment is pretty simple: is everyone going to take LaGuerta’s and Estrada’s death at face value?
If you recall, there is one character in Matthews who was still more than aware about the depths of Maria’s investigation into Dexter as the Bay Harbor Butcher, and it is sure possible that he is going to see what happened with the police captain here as more than just a coincidence. Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Scott Buck says that the show is hoping to bring back Geoff Pierson as the character, but that they do not have any firm deals set in stone just yet.
Meanwhile, Buck also explains just how much of a toll LaGuerta’s death will have on Miami Metro as a whole, and how the show is not looking to necessarily replace her:
“It’s going to have a huge impact. This is a character who’s been with us since the very beginning and has always been a very strong, central character to the show and to Miami Metro. So, you’re definitely going to feel a vacancy there.”
Buck also says to not necessarily count out now the possibility of Batista staying on board the force; even though he had a retirement party on New Year’s Eve at his new restaurant, he did not file his paperwork yet and could very well change his mind after seeing what happened to a woman who was briefly his wife.
Do you think Matthews, Batista, or someone else could be chasing after Dexter in the new year? If you want to read some more scoop about what could happen with Yvonne Strahovski’s Hannah moving forward, you can do so over at the link here.
