‘Top Chef: Seattle’ review: Cooking for Chris Pratt
For whatever reason, the episodes of “Top Chef” that feature celebrity guests tend to always be entertaining, and we don’t know why exactly that is all of the time. Is it because they are traditionally given more creative challenges to work on? That is possible, as it may be that the chefs are just excited about the prospect of cooking for some big stars and really want to impress them.
While this episode wasn’t quite as awesome as their horror show (inspired by “Snow White and the Huntsman”) with Charlize Theron last year, the appearance by Chris Pratt and Anna Faris was a blast here as they brought humor but also honesty to the proceedings. This came following a quickfire challenge that Brooke won, but ironically, she ended winning this elimination task, too; thus, she has a brand-new car! Let this be a lesson to future contestants to actually use a quickfire win as an opportunity to take a risk, and establish yourself as a contender. After all, she did just that with stuffing lamb inside of a squid.
While the contestants all improved vastly on the disaster last week, there were still some people who tried to crash the party with subpar food. For example, Josh struggled yet again with cooking pork, and strangely this guy managed to consistently be in the top during the quickfires, and the bottom in elimination challenges. Somehow, he did manage to survive again, and the person who was sent home was someone in Eliza who failed to really pop off the screen, and her error really was just a mistake in slicing elk.
