‘90210’ season 5 spoilers: Ready for the 100th episode?

It’s hard for any show these days to make it to a hundred episodes; so with this in mind, you really have to give “90210” a round of applause for a job well done. The show has survived through some close calls, and despite lower ratings this season, has an exiting milestone episode planned for Monday night.

So what can you expect to see over the course of the hour? Much of the content is still heavily veiled in mystery, but there will be quite a bit worth getting excited about in between celebrity cameos (Carmen Electra), visits to a certain mansion once owned by Hugh Hefner, burlesque dancing, and references to earlier episodes of the series.

Of course, there is also still a relatively simple question worth asking here: where does “90210” go from here? They have already showcased these characters growing up, and like “Gossip Girl” before it, you have a feeling that the stories are starting to slowly and surely draw close to a close. You almost get the feeling that the future of the show could in many ways depend on how “The Carrie Diaries” fares come January. If AnnaSophia Robb and company turn out to be a smash hit, then it is possible that The CW will choose to kick “90210” to the curb next year in favor of something that has more potential to it at this point. (We know that “Wonder Woman” is in development, even if that is more likely to be paired with “Nikita.”)

Meanwhile, if “The Carrie Diaries” flops we would not be surprised to see “90210” either get a full series six or a shortened final season similar to what “Gossip Girl” has this time around.
