‘Downton Abbey’ season 3 finale spoilers: Ready for some afternoon fun?

For the latest edition in our “Downton Abbey” photo preview series, we have a shot that we could be seeing some brevity in what has been a rather dramatic third season in the finale on Sunday night, at least when it comes to a certain sport that is going to be played by some of the characters: cricket. While it may not be even close to remotely popular here in America, it’s still abundantly clear that it has a great deal of popularity over season, especially in Great Britain at the time that this series is set.

Sadly, there really is not much known at the moment about why we are seeing a cricket match at this point in time, or what sort of bearing it has at all in the story.

What we can at least say is that even though there are some troubles at the moment when it comes to financial excess in the Abbey, they are still able scrounge up enough money to play a game like this that is not necessarily cheap, especially when it comes to the rich setup that is pictured here. The women are all dressed in their finest whites for the occasion, which is beautiful for the sake of bouncing off the screen and also a nice change from some of the dark colors we have seen as of late.

Following the conclusion of this episode, we are going to be waiting for more than a month to see what will come our way next with the series via the Christmas special, which may not be as geared around the holiday this year as you would expect. With this being said, we still imagine that it will contain many of the celebratory themes on the holidays, since nobody wants to celebrate the yuletide spirit by watching Lady Sybil die all over again.
