Are you ready to see a “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reunion on “How I Met Your Mother” this season? Let’s hope so, since we have some more casting news now for “How I Met Your Mother” that will probably make more than a few Joss Whedon fans happy.
As the show itself announced on its official Twitter account earlier this week, Seth Green, who has been making his living lately with “Robot Children” and voicing Joker on one of our favorite games in “Mass Effect,” is going to be coming on board the series to play a rather humorous role in Daryl LaCoutre, a man who was supposedly close friends with both Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan, his former co-star) during their college years. The irony here? They don’t seem to remember him at all.
This story really gets even stranger from here, as Green’s character is also going to be someone who seems to know quite a bit about the couple, their relationship, and their past, and still lives in the same town where he went to school. Can you say “awkward” quickly enough? This gig in a way actually reminds us of when “Lost” alum Jorge Garcia came on the show, mostly because the energy is relatively similar here in that he is coming for what is likely just a one-off appearance, but will still be bringing with him a massive sense of energy and fun to the proceedings.
What do you think about Green’s casting, and do you want to see any more stars from the Joss Whedon world drop by next? Be sure to share some more of your thoughts below! If you want to watch the first video from this episode, all you have to do is head on over to the link here.
