‘American Idol’ notes: Scotty McCreery, Adam Lambert, Paul McDonald

With the American Country Awards coming up, we’re pleased to start off our Thursday edition of the show notes by talking all about just who Fox is putting out there on the small screen in order to promote the awards show this year. Remember, Scotty McCreery won their Best New Artist award in 2011, and Lauren Alaina is nominated this time around despite her album coming out at around the same time last year as the season 10 “American Idol” champ.

Both Scotty and Lauren will be at the show on December 10, and they will be joined by the forgotten star of the show that is Casey James. Why do we say “forgotten”? It’s mostly because the show for whatever reasons has decided to completely deny his existence on the show by never allowing him to come back for some sort of inexplicable reason. Then again, this is something that we have seen from them often when it comes to season 9, as Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze only have given one performance each in the past two years on the show.

Adam Lambert news – Big news for those of you who like to geek out about Adam Lambert’s chart achievements! According to IdolsNow, the season 9 star, fresh off of his “Pretty Little Liars” appearance airing on TV for the first time, has scored a #1 on the Hot Dance Singles Sales with “Trespassing.” You can largely thank for this the fact that the EP recently came out and received a surge of digital downloads as a result, even if it has seen some sporadic play on the radio.

Paul McDonald’s new music video – Just as he and Nikki Reed recently celebrated getting a song on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part II)” soundtrack, the season 10 star is now hard at work shooting a new music video with Reed. He posted as much in a post on Twitter, and we hope that this will amount to something interesting.
