Poldark season 3 episode 4 spoilers (PBS): The mission to save Dwight

At the heart of Poldark season 3 episode 4 on PBS next week is a rather simple question: What can be done to save Dwight Enys? The doctor is in a desperate position, one where he is going to need the help of some other characters in order to ensure his safety. Unfortunately, the problem is that saving him is not something that comes with any guarantees. It could also come with a great deal of survivor’s guilt. While we wish that there were things within the world of Poldark that would just tie up nice and neat without any problems, that’s just not the way that this show works.

Poldark season 3 episode 4 synopsis – “Ross takes a desperate gamble to help another. Drake joins Ross’s mission after his heart is broken. George jockeys for a triumph in politics.”

The “desperate gamble” that we are speaking about here is one that Dwight could be the beneficiary of, and when it comes to what Drake is going to be doing on the mission a whole lot of that stems from his heartbreak over Morwenna. He feels as though hope is shattered after the arrival of her new suitor Reverend Whitworth, who is the man George would like for her and also a man of tremendous power and influence. By comparison, poor Drake feels somewhat helpless. We wish that this wasn’t the case, but that is just the way that things are and we’re not altogether sure that they are going to be changing at any point within the near future. Even if they do for Drake during this story, it’s still a fundamental building block of politics at the time — people often marry for things other than love. Drake has love for days, but he doesn’t have money, power, or influence in the form of other people recommending him.

As for George trying to get a stronger political position there is only one thing that we can say: Ross and those close to him should be nervous. The more power Warleggan manages to accrue is directly related to just how much trouble he could find himself in when the dust settles.
