Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 2 spoilers: Benson fights back
If you’ve read some early reports that are out there going into the season, then you should be very much aware that Benson’s life is going to be put through hell and back this season. Sure, you can argue that this is a woman who really needs a break rather than more pain and torment, but that’s really not something that this show specializes in all that much. As soon as one problem is solved, another problem surfaces; this time around, these problems just so happen to be the ones that impact Mariska Hargitay’s character both on and off the job.
If you look below, the Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 2 synopsis does offer up a few more tantalizing details regarding what is coming up next. For the record, this episode is entitled “Mood,” and is going to feature for the second strait week a guest appearance from Dean Winters:
“The bizarre details of a woman’s rape put the SVU at odds when Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and Carisi (Peter Scanavino) think her story is fabricated. Meanwhile, Benson (Mariska Hargitay) goes on the offensive when her personal life is scrutinized. Also starring Ice T (Det. Odafin Tutuola). Guest starring Dean Winters (Brian Cassidy), Robbie Collier-Sublett (Tom Williams), Saxon Sharbino (Savannah Ross), Amirah Vann (Michelle Morrison) and Spencer Hamp (Nick Collins).”
All it takes is a read of that to know that this is going to be a good episode, just because you always want the squad to be on the same page. If there is something that is unfolding that is causing some discontent among the crew, you know that it’s a problem that will need to be addressed. We at CarterMatt have been known to love a great Carisi storyline, and it’s nice to see one coming up so soon after the premiere focused heavily on Fin and a controversial decision that he made regarding a rapist in Cuba.
Will some of Benson’s struggles stop in this episode? We have a hard time thinking so, largely because we know that she’s going to be permanently forced in some ways to do her job with an enormous target on her back. There are constantly people who are going to want to take her down a notch, and that’s just something that she will have to deal with as a result of the job. It’s not that she is a woman who is just starting to get used to the rigors of being out in the field; she’s been in this position for a long time now, and with that, she should be very much prepared for whatever lies ahead.
