Chicago Fire season 6: What could lie ahead for Dawson & Casey? (Couples Spotlight)

Dawson & Casey

Mrs. Carter: Will there be some happier times coming up for Casey and Dawson on Chicago Fire season 6?

The couple, otherwise known as “Dawsey,” is coming off of one of their most difficult seasons yet filled with highs and lows. The clear low comes via losing Louie. The two went through so much in order to keep him that seeing the birth father come out of the blue was incredibly difficult and devastating. Even if the child is in a better place and a much more stable home, that doesn’t mean that this is easy for either one of them to deal with.

The other clear low could be if Casey actually dies in the fire, which he was in during the closing seconds of the season 5 finale “My Miracle.” We’re writing this article with the assumption that one way or another, he’s going to find a way to survive that. Otherwise, nothing else within this piece holds any water.

Below, we have in the latest chapter of our Couples Spotlight series what we like to think are some solid suggestions for other challenges that the two could face, or other possible high points that are the equivalent of the wedding that the two had during the recent 100th episode of the show.

1. Finding a little more time for each other – While we understand that it wouldn’t be the most exciting idea on paper, having the two go on a vacation could be really fun! Maybe have them hit up a destination just an hour or two out of the city so it can be filmed on location, only to then have some sort of disaster strike where they can be heroes on the road. Give them a little chance to have time together and work on their relationship, but also combine a little bit of Chicago Fire danger in there as well.

2. More of Dawson’s family – The relationship with her father was a good way to explore some of where she stood emotionally during the season, and we want to see that continue. It could also be useful in helping Casey understand his wife and some of the fears that she has about the marriage because of her parents’ recent split.

3. Fewer arguments between the two – At this point, we feel like they’ve been through enough that few fights would really measure as important; also, there’s enough drama going on elsewhere in the show. If they squabble, just have it be a minor thing here or there as opposed to something that puts significant stress on ‘shippers everywhere.

4. Discussions about kids – Maybe they don’t become parents again this season, but the subject should be further broached and explored at some point. There could be nervousness understandably after everything that they’ve been through, but we don’t think the Louie experience will deter them in the end.
