Outlander season 3 notes: Assorted Sam Heughan highlights
With production on the Starz series on hiatus until the fall, Sam is working currently on a different project in The Spy Who Dumped Me alongside Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis. It’s his first major leading-man role in a major studio film production, and this likely will enable him to appeal to a very different audience that he has to date.
While all of this should prove great for his career, we like to think that his post on Twitter below signifies further that he’s still very much the same Sam, and still has the same sense of humor that he always has. He also seems to be enjoying himself while working on the project, which is contemporary and a big change of pace for him from playing Jamie Fraser.
The Spy Who Dumped Me should enter theaters at some point next year. We don’t really cover film on CarterMatt, but we may mention it here or there along the way
What else is he up to?
There are a couple of different things that you can check out if you want to see more of Sam/his perspective on life while you wait for more Outlander — which of course premieres on Starz come September 10.
For fitness advice, there’s a lot of great stuff that he shared recently in his recent Men’s Health cover story in South Africa. The article over at the link here gives you a sense of what his workout regimen is and how he consistently stays in great shape. Jamie’s a physical role, and he needs to be prepared physically for that; with that being said, we also assume that this is quite an asset for The Spy Who Dumped Me given that his character is presumably a secret agent. If it’s anything like James Bond, we have to imagine that there is quite a bit of running about that he has to do on a daily basis.
As for fashion, you can see a video below via his Instagram that is a part of his ongoing Barbour campaign, of which he is a brand ambassador. When you think about it at this point, Heughan’s got film work, a prominent television role, a role to play with Barbour, a lifestyle initiative in My Peak Challenge, several charitable causes, and some semblance of a personal life beyond all of this. As we mentioned earlier, he’s a busy guy, and he’s only going to get busier when the Outlander promotional campaign really kicks into high gear as we get closer to the premiere.

Sam handles it with class, style and keeps his fans in mind. He’s also doing a lot if tweeting about Outlander while shooting the movie (more than I thought he would). He is striking while the iron is hot! Go Sam Go!!!
