Wynonna Earp season 2 episode 9 spoilers: Wynonna, Doc, and a choice

We hesitate to say in advance that Wynonna Earp season 2 episode 9 is going to be the most important episode of the season, largely because such a claim diminishes other brilliant episodes. There have been MANY important episodes and stories this season; we had to get the real Waverly back, we had to resolve some of the troubles with Dolls, and we also saw Wynonna’s pregnancy reveal and the aftermath of that last week in an especially crazy hour of TV last week.

This is the best way that we can describe 2×09, for the time being: This is one of the most important and emotional  episodes for our title character. It’s also going to be critical to the Doc – Wynonna relationship moving forward, depending on how all of the action and drama shakes out.

Wynonna Earp season 2 episode 9 synopsis – “Wynonna asks Doc to make an impossible choice. Waverly makes a new friend — and is terrorized by an old one.”

The words “impossible choice” are a pretty key clue that there is going to be waterworks, and given what we know about Doc, it’s going to be hard for him to separate personal and professional matters if something happens that severs the bond between the two. For the sake of all that is good and holy, please don’t let the two get into a super-terrible spot!

As for Waverly, let’s just hope that this new friend is not of the “they’re probably going to kill you” variety. That’s probably a demented thing to say, but this show has a real habit of putting many of its characters in a position where they think they can trust someone, and then they turn out to be terrible. Sometimes, it may not be of their own accord (see: Goo Waverly), but it’s absolutely terrible still either way. Purgatory is not a place where you can build many tight bonds with people, whether they be old contacts or new friends.

What else we’re wondering

After watching 2×08, which featured the return of Bobo in the closing minutes after Wynonna’s (brief) death, we wonder how Doc is going to be tied into all of this now. Is he being possessed by a demon, and does Wynonna have to kill him in order to turn the tide? There are certainly moments after watching this promo where we wonder that, but above all else, we feel like this episode is going to be super crazy and accelerate everything moving into the final installments of the season.
