SDCC 2017 notes: Iron Fist season 2 official; Westworld season 2 news; Black Lightning trailer
Let’s begin, though, with the great news that Iron Fist season 2 is now officially a thing! Marvel and Netflix confirmed the renewal today, and it’s going to be interesting to see what the show does next. The first season was not all that well-received from critics, but we do think that it had some of its merits. Its biggest challenge was probably just the fact that the majority of the characters surrounding Danny Rand were a little more magnetic than he was.
There’s no premiere date at the moment for Iron Fist season 2 as of yet, but you can expect to see Danny play a major role in The Defenders when that show comes on the air later this summer.
As for some other highlights from SDCC today…
New Black Lightning trailer
While there may not be that much in the way of new footage here, we do think that the presentation for this is completely through the roof. It’s visually stunning, super intense, and the usage of the other superhero shows out there as a point of reference is smart.
Westworld season 2 scoop
How about a little bit casting information? According to a report from Deadline, Neil Jackson (Sleepy Hollow, the upcoming Absentia) is going to be a series regular on the upcoming season of the HBO series playing the part of Nicholas, a guy with a ton of charisma and charm … but also someone who finds himself in a rather shocking place.
Meanwhile, the site also reports that Jonathan Tucker of Kingdom is going to be playing the part of Major Craddock, a military man with a pretty significant sense of power and ego. We imagine that both parties are going to be major players in the story to come.
The Orville nets Charlize Theron
Finally, there’s some big news coming out when it comes to Fox’s upcoming Seth MacFarlane space series — he’s netted a rather big-name guest star in Charlize! Per Entertainment Weekly, her role is going to be as a guest star. Theron previously starred with Seth in his movie Million Ways to Die in the West.
Given that Comic-Con is such a busy, crazy experience, we’re of course going to be offering up some further updates throughout the rest of the weekend. (Photo: Netflix.)
