Outlander season 3 at Comic-Con: Everything you need to know
Let’s start here with the facts: The show’s official Twitter put out a handy infographic of it, giving you a sense of some of the times in which things are happening. The panel is on Friday, July 21 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific time in Ballroom 20, one of the biggest rooms at the entire convention. The panel includes many cast members including Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Sophie Skelton, and Richard Rankin, and odds are there will be quite a bit to discuss!
Some of the new information comes elsewhere in the infographic, including that booth 4029 (it may take some navigating on the show floor to find it) will feature “Jamie’s Print Shop” — a place where there will be some cool show swag. (Odds are, different things are going to happen here than what does in the Outlander Print Shop. Zing!) The autograph session is happening at 2:00 p.m. at the aforementioned booth on Saturday, but you should stop by the booth on Thursday or Friday to get more information. This may sound like a long process, but demand is probably high and there is always a lot going on at the convention. It makes sense for Starz and their people to be prepared for it. (Our suggestion: Go Thursday if you can to the booth. Fewer crowds.)
The cast will also be taking over the show’s Instagram all day on Friday, which is a great way to keep track of everything that will be taking place.
What do we expect?
We know now that season 3 is premiering on Sunday, September 10, so you can go ahead and wipe a premiere-date reveal off the checklist of things we expect. Now, we’re anticipating either an official trailer reveal or a behind-the-scenes featurette — but more likely the former given that there’s not one out there just yet. With the premiere less than two months away, it makes sense to start building the hype. Note that this is just our expectation, and Starz could find a way to shock us and not do either one of these things. We’re just basing this on what we’ve seen at past conventions.
Update: Starz just released the trailer, so rule that out!
If you’re attending, just have fun! It’s a crazy experience that can be a little overwhelming at times, so find some time to relax. Also, be sure to check out the other Outlander related panel that is happening over the weekend — you can get some more details about that over here.
One more suggestion: Be sure to stay hydrated and bring a ton of water. Concessions and restaurants are super-crowded, so be ready in advance.
Of course, we’re going to have full coverage of events all week long. We’re going to be working remotely, but in some ways that may actually help to get some of the news to you faster. (Photo: Starz.)
