The Last Ship season 4 promo: A famine and Chandler’s new quest
Later this summer, TNT is finally going to offer up the latest batch of episodes, and in many ways they are already getting set for one of the most epic stretch of stories that we’ve had a chance to see so far. If you recall, at the end of this past season we had a situation unfold where Chandler was no longer feeling as though he was in a position to keep fighting. With that, he departed the Nathan James and the remainder of the crew to try out a new life of his own — one of peace. You’ll see him trying to live that new life in Greece during the early part of the season, but somehow, someway, he’s going to find his way back. Much of that may have to do with the famine that is set to engulf the rest of the world.
If you do want to get some other insight on that very thing, be sure to check out the official synopsis below courtesy of TNT:
“Over the course of the first three seasons, The Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James has been the central vehicle for the discovery and distribution of the cure to the Red Flu, resulting in near global recovery. After the chilling events at the end of last season, Tom Chandler (Dane) has given up his heroic titles and responsibilities and sought solace – and anonymity — with his family in a small fishing village in Greece. Meanwhile, Captain Slattery (Baldwin) and the crew of Nathan James have discovered that the virus has “jumped kingdoms” and now infects the world’s food crops, bringing humanity to the brink of global famine. As the ship traverses the Mediterranean in search of a solution that can save the world’s food supply, Chandler encounters his own enemies in Greece. His “hero’s journey” becomes a modern day retelling of Homer’s Odyssey.”
The promo provides what we like to think of as a fantastic extension of this synopsis — it sets the stakes, ups the ante of drama, and establishes the setting and what the remainder of the crew will be doing. This will be one of the biggest tests to date for Chandler, largely because he’s going to have to figure out the right way to help and discover some of his voice, his passion, and the right way to lead the team. You better hope that they also find some sort of adequate food source, since otherwise we could be seeing more chaos come their way and some more tough decisions made.
