Longmire season 6 spoilers: Farewell to the Red Pony

Red Pony

You know that Longmire season 6 is starting to get near the end of the road when it comes to production. After all, filming at the Red Pony is complete.

In a post on Instagram earlier this afternoon, the bittersweet news was confirmed by the man behind The Ferg in Adam Bartley. The Red Pony has long been a staple of the show, especially when it comes to Henry Standing Bear running the operation off and on. Sure, at times he had Malachi Strand breathing down his next, but what matters is that he got the place back … well, hopefully. We suppose that Henry has to survive the attack in the season 5 finale before we can say anything with confidence.

For Bartley’s character, we also have many fine memories of him at the Red Pony, socializing and bonding with a wide array of characters. His friendship with Zachary in season 4 remains a highlight, which is why it’s such a cause for further excitement to know that Barry Sloane is going to be coming back for at least one episode of the final season.

We’ll miss this location much in the same way that we’ll miss all of the others, such as Walt’s cabin or the oh-so-familiar office. All of these locations bring with them such a sense of comfort; they’re almost like a bowl of chicken soup, something beloved that you remember fondly from past seasons and something that you want to see more of. They make Longmire stand out from the field. There may be other crime series out there, but few have this same aesthetic or these sort of characters.

There will be some more milestones that come during season 6 filming before long; much as we’ve been doing throughout production, we’ll have further news as the stories break. There is no firm premiere date just yet, but expect to see it back in September or October.
