Supernatural season 13: Would DJ Qualls return as Garth?
Today, we’re referencing that DJ Qualls (Garth) is still interested in going back to the show, which is great to us given that he is one of our favorite recurring characters. Garth brought a lot to the table, but we haven’t actually seen him stop by since 2014. A big part of the reasoning for that is the billion or so other things that he’s had going on, including The Man in the High Castle, Fargo, and Z Nation. His interest in returning was first reported by TV Guide, who also had the following to say about the rather amusing reason why he was hesitant to first do the show to begin with:
“I’m not going to go on a show where I’m not just as good looking as the leads — but substantially, like shockingly.”
Of course, this is him joking around a little bit; we would like to see Garth back someday, and the same goes with many other people like Kevin, Sheriff Mills, Charlie, or of course more Chuck. It doesn’t matter all that much to us if a character is dead or alive, given that there have been so many different revivals / visits to the afterlife on the show already. We like to think that Chuck could be especially important here if there is a way to bring Castiel back following what happened to him in the crazy finale.
Also, it feels like the show may need to inject a little more of these characters into the story now to help fill the void left by Crowley’s departure. Mark Sheppard has already indicated that he doesn’t have any plans to return to the show, and that brings the main roster of the show down to three. Even with that, Misha Collins doesn’t typically appear in every episode.
Supernatural will premiere this October on The CW, and of course we’ll have more news as filming begins.
