Supergirl season 3: Rumored premiere date hits web
If you head over to the show’s IMDb page right now, you can see that the upcoming premiere date for the third season is listed as Monday, October 9. Does this feel right? Absolutely, given that many CW shows have a tendency to begin in either the first or the second week of October. Here’s the unfortunate news that you have to remember to go along with this, though: IMDb listings can be changed by a variety of parties, and this is therefore not official and could be wrong.
For the time being, it feels fair to assume that October 9 is the frontrunner date for a number of different reasons. With the fall season starting a little later this year for some major networks (CBS is starting on September 25), you don’t want to put your own premieres too close to them if you are The CW. You like your shows to stand on their own without too much premiere competition, and you also like shorter hiatuses during the season itself. Odds are, an October 2 premiere is not going to happen, so it’s either the ninth or possibly October 16 if the programmers over there really want to get crazy.
It has absolutely been a very busy summer for Supergirl news, even though it’s a fairly well-known fact at the moment that the show won’t be filming for around another month. Odette Annable has been cast as the Big Bad in Reign, and there is going to be less of a presence of Floriama Lima on the show as Maggie Sawyer. The actress opted to take on more of a reduced role on the upcoming batch of episodes, as she is looking to explore some other potential projects. The status of Chris Wood for season 3 is still unclear, but for now we’re presuming that the lack of news about Mon-El’s future is for the time being a reason for hope rather than a reason for despair.
