MasterChef season 8 premiere exclusive: Aarón Sánchez checks in
In the exclusive sneak peek below, you can see Sánchez offer some feedback on a dish from a contestant, who seems to be operating under the mindset of “more is more.” He’s brought to the table three different preparations, but the roasted scallop is the one that’s caught Sánchez’s eye. This is a nice reminder that sometimes, you don’t need to throw a billion things at the wall in this competition! If you do one thing and do it with a lot of finesse and heart, it’s often going to be tasty enough to move forward in the competition. Also, if you’re creative and technical enough, you can wow the judges while also keeping things simple.
Sánchez is joining the flagship show this season after being a part of both MasterChef proper and the Junior edition as a guest judge for this past season, and through those shows you saw a little bit of his style and personality. The reason he works for this show is because he brings such uniqueness and flair that you don’t have from either Gordon Ramsay or Christina Tosi. They are fantastic in their own way, but he comes with his own perspective and culinary background.
Also, he’s got his own bag of metaphors to pull from! In the video he compares trying to do too much on a plate to putting on too much cologne.
MasterChef season 8 will begin in the way that many seasons have as of late, with contestants fighting it out in order to get a white apron. A select group will be presented these, and from there they have to figure out a proper way to move forward into some of the various challenges that you’ve come to know and love from this show. Only one person will emerge as the winner, but it’s a long road to get there.
