Gotham season 3 episode 21, 22 (finale) spoilers: Ra’s al Ghul arrives

Gotham season 3 episode 21

Gotham season 3 episode 21 next week is going to be a momentous occasion, and for one simple reason: Setting up the finale. There are two episodes airing back to back next week, and they will wrap up the story of season 3 while also hopefully setting the stage for what could be an exciting season 4. (Thankfully, the show is officially renewed.)

Going into the finale (episode 22), the biggest thing to be excited about is the first appearance from none other than Ra’s al Ghul, and for good reason given that he is one of the most-notorious characters in all of the Batman comic world. He’s also one of the leaders within the Court of Owls, and is responsible in many ways for the operation of it in Gotham. Bruce will become more similar to Batman than ever by the end of the episode, while for Jim Gordon, he will continue to do what he can in order to take back some of what he’s lost with Lee Thompkins.

Gotham season 3 episode 21 synopsis – “With the deadly virus spreading throughout the city, the search for the antidote continues, as Fish Mooney (guest star Jada Pinkett Smith), The Riddler and Penguin reveal plans of their own. Bruce meets Ra’s Al Ghul (guest star Alexander Siddig) and completes his last task in order to fulfill his destiny, but realizes he can’t let go of his past. Meanwhile, Gordon tries to win back Lee, and past alliances within Gotham City are broken, while new alliances are formed.”

Will there be a cliffhanger for season 4 buried within the Gotham finale? Given what is known about this show at the moment, it feels fair to expect something of the sort.

In the promo below, you don’t actually see Ra’s in the flesh. Yet, at the same time you do still get a sense of his overall presence and his gravitas as he encourages Bruce to try and further pursue his destiny. Meanwhile, there are a whole chorus of villains in here that give you a sense that season 3 is going to end with fireworks, and another bit of the power dynamics that effectively have defined a good percentage of the season to date. Anytime someone is at the top, many others will try to kick them down.

Is there anything that you want to see both on Gotham season 3 episode 21 and the finale that follows it up? Be sure to share some of your thoughts in the comments!
