Is Elementary new tonight on CBS? Possible season 6 windows
Unfortunately, for the time being the show is off the air, and that is precisely where it is going to remain for the foreseeable future. It’s pure torture, but the network does not have Elementary on its fall schedule. As a result of that, season 6 for the mystery series is likely only going to be 13 episodes, and trying to determine when it is going to premiere is like trying to resolve a great mystery in its own right.
So what are some possible / interesting premiere windows for Jonny Lee Miller and the rest of the cast? This does feel like the right time to explore that further with the show embarking on such on a long break.
Winter – The benefit of a January start for Elementary is that with families stuck inside due to cold weather, there is a reasonably good chance to deliver some solid ratings. However, at the same time you do run the risk of frequent hiatuses because of awards shows if you air on Sunday nights.
Spring – The benefit to starting the show here is simply that there are fewer breaks in the action — Elementary can start up, and then end at around the same time that season 5 did. The major disadvantage that comes with this is the tendency for shows to be lower-rated at around this time.
Summer – This does seem to be in some ways the least-likely situation for the show to return, but you never want to rule anything out since there is so much potential that could come from the show airing around this time. There, for one, is a lot less competition on the air, and it could get a prominent timeslot with fewer expectations. Maybe there will be some people out there who bemoan this timeslot, but personally, this is something that would be a ton of fun in order to properly see.
One way or another, the reality still is that the future for Elementary is very much up in the air.

I’d like to see Elementary focusing on Sherlock and Joan solving cases together. It would be a dream for the show to get back to the vibe of the first season…Sherlock’s snarky attitude…Joan’s eye rolling. Since the two main characters have developed over five seasons, their friendship and partnership should be solid. Intelligent dialogue, interesting cases and humor is paramount IMHO. It would also be nice to see some of the newer characters again, i.e Lin, Paige, etc.
