Outlander season 3 notes: New location; Richard Rankin gives back

Rankin

For those in America, happy Memorial Day Weekend! For those elsewhere, hopefully this weekend is treating you well. Hopefully, this latest set of Outlander notes will help to make it all the more cheery and exciting.

Specifically, the starting-off point this time around is coming your way courtesy of show executive producer Matthew B. Roberts’ Instagram account; this one gives you a good sense of an especially tropical locale that may be used for one of the final episodes of season 3. By the time the third season ends, there could be some scenes set within Jamaica, which South Africa is doubling for. Who wouldn’t want to think in theory about exploring such a place? (Of course, the idea of actually doing so may be a tad dark and/or scary for some.)

This photo is being posted in the midst of what may be the home stretch for the cast and crew, as they will be departing South Africa come June. It’s been a fun time for the show to explore something totally new, but for season 4 production will be centering itself back on Scotland once more. Even some of the scenes set elsewhere will use the familiar locale as their home base.

Of course, Outlander season 3 will be premiering on Starz come September. Further news will be revealed when it’s available!

Some Richard Rankin fundraising

The man behind Roger Wakefield was one of many to take part in Breast Way Round, a four day bike-riding venture designed to raise further funds for MacMillan Cancer Support. It’s a worthy cause, and having Rankin as a part of it should only help to further both awareness and also money coming in for it.

You can see some further photos of Rankin over at The Scottish Sun, which also includes the following quote from him:

“It’s great to see people combining what they are passionate about with raising money for such an important cause.

“I hope more people take inspiration from this and join them to raise awareness of the support provided by Macmillan to those affected by cancer.”

Cheers to Rankin for thinking in terms of the right way to help others; here’s to hoping that his spirit of tremendous giving is infectious to many others.
