Is Saturday Night Live new tonight? Revisit Louis CK monologue

Louis CK monologue

Is Saturday Night Live new tonight? It’s absolutely something that we could all use in the midst of a crazy time in the world. Through most of season 42, we’ve seen this show take on difficult subjects with bite and TONS of humor. Also, it introduced us to Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump and then also Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer.

Unfortunately, there is no new episode of #SNL airing tonight. Not only that, but you’re going to be waiting for a LONG time to see what is coming up next. The show is done until fall, and in the meantime there are many key decisions that Lorne Michaels and the other producers will need to make. They’ve already lost Sasheer Zamata, Vanessa Bayer, and Bobby Moynihan from the cast, but are these the only people who are going to be departing? There is still time for more surprises, but fingers crossed this is it. Losing anyone else at this point would be a massive bummer, given that it would mean that they didn’t get any sort of proper send-off on the show. (Remember how Jason Sudeikis ended a lengthy run without much fanfare at all? It’s still a bummer to think about.)

Beyond that, there are some other hires that will likely be made, but examining that further there is a subject for another day.

The purpose of the remainder of this article is to give a reminder that there is a repeat of SNL airing on NBC tonight, and it is the one hosted by Louis CK from earlier this year. There is a lot to enjoy over the episode, even if much of the show was inconsistent as a whole.

As with any other CK show, the big highlight comes of course via the monologue, which is almost always edge and controversy. The fact that he started with “why did the chicken cross the road?” before getting into a discussion of race and other subjects is precisely what CK does so well as a comedian — he deconstructs and twists topics in a way that keeps you constantly invested in every single thing that he says.

In addition to this, another memorable sketch from the show is CK’s Sectionals commercial — it aired late in the show, but it is so weird and innovative that you can watch it and be mesmerized. (This sketch is probably even funnier while imbibed, which some people may have been at the time it was written.)
