Supernatural season 13: Mark Sheppard has zero plans to return

Sheppard

Apparently, the whole “anything’s possible” theory with Supernatural does not apply to one Mark Sheppard.

Following the news earlier this week that Sheppard will be leaving behind the role of Crowley after this season, some news broke last night courtesy of a post on his Twitter account. After producer Jim Michaels suggested that Crowley could be back someday (typical standard operating procedure for anyone within the Supernatural world), Sheppard himself responded saying that there are “no plans” for him to come back, and saying anything otherwise would be misleading.

This back and forth is one of those rare situations where you can see where all sides are coming from. Michaels probably wasn’t trying to insinuate anything other than that the door could be open down the road, which even after Sheppard’s comment is still theoretically possible. In six months or one year’s time, who knows how everyone will feel? It does make sense at the same time that Sheppard wanted to ensure that fans didn’t get the wrong impression, since creating false hope is a terrible thing and in the age of the internet, people often believe whatever they want to rather than what is necessarily the truth. That may stink, but so often things can be wrongly interpreted.

The thing that is somewhat a bummer to us is that there doesn’t seem to be enough of a tribute to Crowley for our liking. Maybe that will change for Supernatural when the show returns this fall and it is confirmed that he isn’t coming back. It’s already assumed that Misha Collins will find a way back in some way as Castiel, but the series is losing now one of the few regulars it has in Sheppard and someone who played probably a top ten character from the series’ run. That is a sad thing no matter how you slice it.

What do you think about Sheppard’s remark? Do you think that this was the final time we will see Mark on the show when the dust settles? Share in the comments below!

Meanwhile, head over here in the event you do want to secure some further news when it comes to the series. (Photo: The CW.)
