Supergirl season 3 already casting Reign as Big Bad

casting Reign

Just in case there needed to be further verification that Reign will be a Big Bad for Supergirl season 3, here it is. According to a new report coming in from TVLine, producers are already looking for the right person to appear in as many as a dozen episodes as the recently-created comic character, someone with incredible power and a real thirst for destroying worlds. (You can read more about her by checking out the story over here.)

In the season 2 finale, the picture for the character’s arrival was painted with the story flashing back to the time of Kal-El and Kara’s departure from Krpyton, as someone else was being created and shipped off in a pod. Where Reign has been for the past few decades remains a mystery, but she may not waste too much time before making her presence felt. Hopefully, this character will also be a little more evil for the sake of evil than either Astra or Rhea, and last for a bigger chunk of the season. The second season of the show absolutely had some high and low points, but one of the bigger lows was that it didn’t give enough time to any individual villain for them to be developed. It’s very difficult with this to begin with to have worthy opponents to Kara given that she is so unbelievably powerful that she cannot be defeated via normal means.

Hopefully, the show will cast someone capable of taking on Reign’s physical attributes, while also developing a personality that makes her as compelling as Prometheus on Arrow this season.

The site also reports that Calista Flockhart won’t be returning as Cat Grant for the entirety of season 3 despite being listed in a recent synopsis for it; however, she will likely make some guest appearances. Hopefully, they will be more frequent than her bookending season 2, but it’s May and therefore impossible to gauge that one way or another. Cat is a character who has become more and more interesting as time’s gone by, so the more she appears on the show at this point, the better off it will probably be as a whole.
