The Bachelorette spotlight: Will Peter Kraus impress Rachel Lindsay?

One of the big takeaways that you get from The Bachelorette contestant Peter Kraus almost right away is rather simple: His name. How often is this guy going to get confused for Parenthood and Six Feet Under star Peter Krause? It’s certainly something that he’s probably faced over the course of the season.

The 31-year old from Wisconsin is already a subject of a good bit of conversation leading into this season, and it’s easy to understand why both in terms of his potential connection with Rachel Lindsay and as an archetype contestant for The Bachelorette. For one, he’s an attractive, muscular guy who has some experience modeling and being in front of the camera. He’s listed in his bio as a “business owner,” but he’s also the kind of guy who takes a lot of pictures of themselves at the gym. So far, this checks off more boxes for the standard Bachelorette contestant than can even really be counted here.

The test for him over the season will be finding some ways to stand out beyond the really-nice suit he wears on night one. Odds are, he’ll make it past that just because there are no obvious red flags. He’ll just need to figure out the right way to forge some connections on a physical and intellectual level. Since the show itself gave it away, it’s not too big of a spoiler to say that he makes it to the Ellen date given that he is one of the guys featured there. He’s capable of handling some goofy situations in stride, so from there, he will just need to show that he can also tackle a few things a little more serious.

There are some interesting connections between Rachel and Peter’s home state, as well. Nick Viall, the reigning Bachelor from this past season, originally hailed from the state. Meanwhile, Rachel attended school in Wisconsin, even though her home base is in Dallas, Texas, a hub for many people associated with the show including Sean Lowe and the most recent Bachelorette in JoJo Fletcher. It would make sense for them to be involved in the season in some way, but it’s not clear that this will happen.
