Madam Secretary season 4 premiere date dreams for Tea Leoni, cast
The good news is that there is a Madam Secretary season 4 already on deck for the fall, so there is less of a reason to worry about whether or not the series starring Tea Leoni is going to be coming back for more episodes. However, the bad news is that the show is going to be premiering in a later timeslot in Sunday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern.
If this was strictly Sundays at 10:00 week in and week out, it probably would not be such a sticking point with so many fans out there. Unfortunately, the show airing at this particular time of night is only partially guaranteed during the fall. There are many weeks where the show ends up airing later thanks in part to NFL football; heck, you probably want to prepare yourself in advance now for a week or two in which the show won’t air at all because of games getting pushed so late. CBS does care about Madam Secretary — they wouldn’t renew it otherwise — but they make a TON of money off of their NFL package and it draws some of the biggest ratings out there for the network. It’s rather difficult for them to justify ever getting rid of the games just because it is such a cornerstone of what they do year in and year out.
Here’s the silver lining as to why you shouldn’t be worried too much about the show on some extreme level. After all, just remember that Elementary got renewed despite some pretty terrible ratings in this timeslot last year. Clearly, CBS doesn’t have huge expectations for any show in this spot, so even if the show struggles at times, it could be in contention to come back. It does get pretty huge total-viewer numbers; it skews fairly old, and while that may be an issue for some networks, it really isn’t for one in CBS.
As for some suggested premiere dates for season 4, think along the lines of September 24 or October 1 / October 8. These are dates perfectly in line with when the show aired this past season.
