Outlander season 3: David Berry talks Lord John Grey
The video below was captured by Roma Sars on Twitter, and it features Berry discussing the rather hasty casting process that eventually led to him getting the role and then filming in Scotland:
“I got in the room and practically just read off the page. I did it, and I got a call over the next couple of days saying ‘we’d like to get you in for the role in Glasgow,’ and that I’d have to be on a plane over the weekend. So literally I got on the plane not knowing much about anything with the role. I hadn’t received any scripts. I arrived on the ground and still hadn’t seen any scripts and it was the day before shooting. I finally got my scripts in the evening. My first scene was a three-page scene out on location.
“They didn’t know whether or not I could ride a horse, so they had me [sent over] to the horse-riding guy … I met Sam [Heughan before doing the scene], as well … I was just going by the seat of my pants … I had a very good intuitive sense of the character, and the cast was all lovely and very supportive, and knew what I was going through.”
As for some other discussion, the caption below via Wanda Serrano (citing OutlanderItaly) describes further just what season 3 will be like in terms of scale.
All in all, there’s going to be a good bit of intrigue surrounding Lord John both this season and in everything potentially to come. It’s probably a gross understatement to say that season 3 is going to be big and bold, just because the proof’s in the location traveling and some of the extreme hype that is stemming from some of that already.
