The Bachelorette spotlight: Is Dr. Bryan Abasolo Rachel Lindsay favorite?

Dr. Bryan Abasolo is one of the contestants on The Bachelorette this season, and he’s certainly one of the most qualified contenders. At 37 years old, he is one of the older contestants on this season. Sometimes, that means you’re getting a guy desperate just to get TV time and cannot move on from the concept of that. In this case, though, it just seems like he’s the sort who does want to find love, but one reason or another, he hasn’t found it yet.

It feels wrong to psychoanalyze a contender on The Bachelorette based on what little information that is known about him in advance. Yet, it’s easy to imagine that Bryan is the sort of guy who focused so much on his career as a chiropractor in Miami that he didn’t think about his personal life and his future. He’s successful, he’s professional, and he probably understands who he is or what he wants.

One of the other things that could be interesting about Bryan as a contender this season is that he actually does understand the franchise better than some others — he lists The Bachelorette / The Bachelor as one of his favorite shows! In some instances with reality TV, it’d probably be fair to say that this is not something that is all that important. Yet, in this instance it could be critical to his future on the show. If you understand how this process works and the emotions associated with going through it, you’re so much more prepared and maybe a little less emotionally devastated in the event that things don’t quite work out in the way in which you want.

One other thing that is notable is that Bryan seems very proud of his bilingual heritage, so with that, don’t be surprised if he speaks a little bit of Spanish here and there over the course of the season. He’ll be eager to better showcase who he is, and he will likely opt to do that in just about every way possible. Given that there is only so much time you have to impress Rachel Lindsay, his experience and confidence could make him someone who makes a concentrated effort to stand out early.
