The Bachelorette: Is Rachel Lindsay engaged? She confirms the news
In the past, the subject of engagement is something that past Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants had a wide array of different ways in which to tackle. Some would opt against revealing the news in fear of spoiling something on accident. Meanwhile, others just wanted to take a hardline stance so that people would stop bothering them about it.
Rachel is doing something that hasn’t quite been done in quite a long time, with her straight-up honest about what happened at the end of the show. Speaking per Us Weekly, she had the following to say:
“I am very much so in love and very much so engaged! Every morning I wake up and pinch myself and I keep asking myself if this is really happening. It’s crazy at times. I feel like I don’t even deserve this. I feel like I’m getting everything that I want and I am getting my happy ending.”
This is a very sweet statement for Rachel to say, but it also is a very calculated, interesting move for ABC to allow her to say this. There may be a certain degree of awareness at the moment that this is a dark, depressing time for many people out there. As a result of that, there are many out there who may be looking at this show for a source of happiness or solace during such a difficult, trying time. Sure, it’s silly summer escapism that won’t solve any problems, but this could end up being one of the most popular seasons in the history of the show? Rachel is very likable, and her season could end up reaching who new demographics of people who didn’t typically watch the show before. She’s likable, but more than that, she actually feels like a real person as opposed to someone who’s going to come on the show and then spend the majority of the rest of her life trying to keep the fame going.
