Shark Tank: Rocketbook, Wine & Design, Bridal Buddy, Laid Brand (finale preview)

Rocketbook

Shark Tank is airing the season finale on Friday night, and while this may be worth pointing out, it will likely not be a huge factor for events in the Tank. Products will arrive hoping to secure an investment, and the Sharks will determine whether or not to add them to their now-RIDICULOUS portfolios, which are likely bursting at the seams.

The one part of the finale that will feature something special is the update segment, which will offer an opportunity to see a summation of the Sharks’ success stories as seen throughout the season. Before getting into spotlighting the products, check out the synopsis below for some further details:

“A husband and wife duo from Raleigh, North Carolina, surprise the Sharks when they bring a party atmosphere and a male model into the Tank to show how their franchised art studios work; two men from Melrose, Massachusetts, have a futuristic version of a notebook that sends writing wirelessly, allowing the handwriting to be erased using a microwave oven, a concept the Sharks find both “wacky” and “brilliant”; two entrepreneurs from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, hope to capitalize on the desire to attract a mate with hair-care products infused with pheromones; and a divorced mom from The Poconos, Pennsylvania, shares her philosophy of how she overcame obstacles and pursued her idea of how brides can bag up their wedding gowns so they can use the bathroom on their own. There will also be a season-long recap highlighting the Sharks’ inspirational and often revealing rags-to-riches success stories.”

Bridal Buddy – How serious of a problem is brides being unable to use the bathroom? Pretty serious, but the gamble this company is taking is assuming that brides will have the desire to wear something that is specifically designed for easier toilet usage. It’s practical and weddings are a huge moneymaker for many in the industry; nonetheless, this is a challenging prospect.

Wine & Design – This it taking a page from the “adult experiences” playbook with a company that is all about getting people out to drink and work on art together. Painting drunk is probably more fun than painting sober, but couldn’t this get a little wacky over time? It feels like the sort of thing you do once for laughs but possibly not beyond that. Also, isn’t it possible to just buy a bottle of wine, get a canvas, and turn on old repeats of Bob Ross? Maybe that’s less fun…

Rocketbook – Genius. Love the idea. It makes scanning and creating digital versions of your notes an ease thanks to the app; more than that, it’s even reusable! The idea of how that’s possible still is mind-blowing, even after doing some research on it. The drawback is paying over $20 for a product that you can buy for 10-20% of the price without the fancy bells and whistles, but for techno-savvy users or people who are environmentally-conscious, this could be a winner.

Laid Brand – After realizing that this product is effectively pheromone-based hair care, the idea of calling it “laid” is almost eyeroll-worthy; yet, this is not the typical Shark Tank brand, and it’s catering to a very specific audience of people looking to boost confidence. Arguably this is more about how the product makes people feel as opposed to anything tied to its external effectiveness. At least the valuable seems reasonable and humble, two words not often used to describe them these days.
