The Simpsons lampoons Donald Trump, Sean Spicer in new short

The Simpsons

The Simpsons is a show that does love to get a bit edgy and topical, but one of the challenges that they often run into is that structurally, their show doesn’t quite operate like South Park. It’s harder for them to commentate on current events, so with that, they have to find some other unique ways to get some of their timely humor out there.

Luckily, that is what these online shorts are all about! In the new video below, you can see the Fox series deliver on what is a pretty hardcore, blistering attack of President Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office. This is one that really doesn’t hold that much back, especially when it comes to the scene of Sean Spicer hanging himself or Ivanka Trump being named to the Supreme Court.

Will this be polarizing? Absolutely, given that there are plenty of people out there who will hate this sort of blistering attack on the Trump Presidency. You have to assume this even more given that The Simpsons is a fairly bread-and-butter show. While we do think that the majority of its viewers are probably liberal, odds are that there is a pretty solid conservative contingent within its audience, as well.

There are a couple of quick reactions that we’re seeing just in the comments for this video either — some of the people out there are upset with what they feel is the political bias within the video. Meanwhile, there are plenty of other people who feel a little bit more offended about how the show’s supposedly been unfunny since [insert season here]. That’s the funny thing about most detractors of the show — they all have the same supposed opinion that the show’s not funny anymore, but nobody can pin down a precise date on it.

Ultimately, we do think that this is a sharp, funny satire. It’s not as brilliant as some of the other ones that we’ve seen, but the problem there is that Trump jokes are the most over-saturated jokes out there. Not only are there a million parodies out there, but some of Trump’s own actions are so extreme that it’s hard to parody them in their own way.

What do you think about this new video — is it funny, a little much, or somewhere in between? Be sure to share below!
