Dancing with the Stars: Maksim Chmerkovskiy MIA on Good Morning America due to break-in

GMA

Typically what happens on Tuesday following the Dancing with the Stars episode is an appearance from both the eliminated Star and their professional partner on GMA the next day. However, for Heather Morris and Maksim Chmerkovskiy the morning after their unexpected elimination, things did not go according to plan.

As Morris recounted on Good Morning America on Tuesday, the hopes of Maks being there were dashed by a reported break-in that took place at his and Peta Murgatroyd’s home. While everyone was okay, this was a scary situation that unfolded in the middle of the night and he needed to be there in support of his family during this time. There are obviously some things that are far more important than a cheesy dance competition, and this was one of them.

In general, we have a feeling that this was one of the trickier seasons of Dancing with the Stars for Maks since he first joined the show, since you have to remember for a minute here everything that he’s gone through. Close to the start of the season, he suffered an injury that not only required surgery, but put him out of commission temporarily. Alan Bersten ended up stepping into his place in the competition as a result of that. Following that, you of course had the stunning elimination that happened, and there is virtually no one out there that foresaw that coming given some of the popularity that exists out there for Heather and some of her recent high scores.

We will give Heather a lot of credit here for being as classy as she was in this interview, given that this had to be a really challenging time for her and she was clearly exhausted still from the night before. Nonetheless, she can walk away knowing that she is probably the best dancer to be eliminated at this point in the competition, even more so than Sabrina Bryan a little while ago.

Of course, we send all of our own well-wishes out to Maks and Peta during this time, and we’re happy that the two of them are doing okay in the aftermath of what happened.
