Doctor Who season 10 episode 3 spoilers: ‘Thin Ice,’ monsters, and 1814

Doctor Who season 10 episode 3

Following tonight’s journey into the future, where will Doctor Who season 10 episode 3 take you? It’s only fitting that in so many ways we venture a little bit back into the past. It makes the show feel even more full-circle, and gives us a chance to get to see even more of the world.

The episode coming up is entitled “Thin Ice,” and that alone should make it pretty clear that there is some extremely-creepy stuff coming. Specifically, what we can say about that is that we’re gearing up for a creepy, monster-themed hour that is going to feature a creature taking people into the bottom of the river Thames. It’s the sort of story that may keep people in London from the river for weeks and months on end. (We don’t know if the Thames is the sort of place they’d want to be near — what we can say as an American is that nobody wants to get near the Hudson in New York.)

Doctor Who season 10 episode 3 synopsis – “London, 1814. The entire city has turned out for the biggest Frost Fair in decades. But beneath the frozen Thames, revellers are disappearing, snatched through the ice and pulled into the depths where a terrifying monster lurks. Will the Doctor and Bill stop the slaughter before they too are dragged into the icy waters?”

The synopsis here is pretty straightforward when it comes to explaining what’s coming up, and we’re certainly fine with that. It tells you what’s coming, it gets you in and out, and it gives you a pretty good reason to be excited. This sounds like a vintage Doctor Who standalone hour, and that’s all we can possibly hope to have.

What we saw after the episode tonight was a really good depiction of what’s coming, whether it be the new era or the presence of the monster. This episode could bring out one of the darker / more dangerous parts of The Doctor, given that we saw Bill ask Twelve as to whether or not he’d killed before.
