Dancing with the Stars: Julianne, Derek Hough preview ‘Move – Beyond’ tour
For the first time this season, Derek (who is going to be a part of the upcoming World of Dance competition) returned with his sister in order to preview their upcoming “Move – Beyond” tour, which is going to be taking place this spring. Julianne will be alternating between coming on this show to judge and then heading out doing some gigs with her brother. The performance that we got from the two tonight was meant to honor an earlier time in their lives. You could see pretty clearly that this was about family, and some of the struggles that they had earlier on in their lives. It was certainly emotional, and to go along with that, it was also pretty lyrical and beautiful. This certainly felt more like a So You Think You Can Dance performance than a Dancing with the Stars one, which shouldn’t surprise anyone given that these two are pros.
In general, it was nice to see Julianne in general back in the ballroom, given that she has spent so much time behind the judges’ table. The closing minutes of it were especially powerful as the two embraced their fellow dancers. This took a good bit out of them, and then them of course Julianne had to face coming back and doing more of the show in her typical capacity.
After the dance, Derek made it clear that they were planning a “dynamic” show, and one that should please quite a few people out there. We figure that it will, given that the two are certainly seasoned performers who know a thing or two about pleasing the audience.
