Saturday Night Live: See Kate McKinnon become Chud in record time
Recently on Saturday Night Live, we saw Kate McKinnon return to a character in Chud the Mermaid who we’d seen her play on the show previously. Now, we’ve got a little more insight into how the masters behind the scenes at the show were able to make this happen in the first place.
In the video below, you’ve got an opportunity to see Kate transform from her Jeff Sessions character to Chud in the matter of just seven or so minutes. She did her piece on Weekend Update, went back in the chair, and had her entire costume assembled, including all of the elaborate prosthetics for the face. What these people are able to pull off in a very short amount of time here is nothing short of outstanding, which is why these artists are a group of people who never get the recognition that they deserve.
We honestly don’t even know how they get this together in time, but that’s just a part of the TV magic!
As for when you’re going to get a chance to see Kate McKinnon back on the show again, there will be a new episode of Saturday Night Live airing on April 8. On that occasion, we figure that she will get a chance to spend a little bit of screen time with one host Louis CK. Why wouldn’t you want her on stage with him, given that they had a very memorable version of the “Last Call” sketch that we’ve seen time and time again. Beyond that, we’re going to see jimmy Fallon hosting the show come April 15.
Unfortunately, we’re not sure if Chud is going to make it to one of those shows … though that may be fortunate for some given that he’s such a polarizing character. We’re excited to see what characters do end up making it onto the show, given that we imagine there are going to be a few familiar faces wedged somewhere in there. Personally, we feel like the time is right to bright back Olya given everything that we’ve seen in the headlines as of late with Russia. Don’t you think that this is going to be a subject of conversation at around that time still?
