NCIS season 14 spoilers: Meet Alex Quinn’s mother!

Alex Quinn's mother -

It’s not often that you get to meet a team member’s mother on NCISit’s even rarer when the team member that you’re getting a chance to meet is an Oscar-winning actress!

CBS confirmed recently that Mercedes Ruehl (who won an Academy Award for her role in The Fisher King) is going to be appearing in the upcoming April 4 episode entitled “A Bowl of Cherries” as the mother to Jennifer Esposito’s Alex Quinn. Given the caliber of performer that you’re getting for the show here, you have to figure that she is going to be coming on board with a wallop or two of drama. She will impact Alex in some sort of major way, and we’re very curious to see precisely what that will be.

New episodes of NCIS are going to be resuming a little bit later in the month after a brief hiatus, and of course we’d like to get these personal spotlights on all of the new team members before we get to the end of the season. We just had something that was powerful and significant when it comes to the character development of Nick Torres; on this past episode, we specifically learned that he has a history with losing the love of his life to cancer, and that is one of the reasons why he was so uncomfortable with another patient. We also personally think that this is probably a reason why he was so attracted to the idea of a deep-cover mission. He may have perceived this as a rather-great opportunity to be able to dive into something that would enable him to be able to get out of his own head, even if it was just for a brief minute or two. It was an opportunity for an escape, and he took it.

As for the story with Alex Quinn’s mother, we just hope that it sets things up so that Ruehl can return however often she wants. The more personal stories on a show like NCIS, the better off it will be. We don’t always remember things with the show when they focus more on what’s going on with the case-of-the-week. In this episode, for example, the case will involve around a dangerous hack.
