Grey’s Anatomy season 13 episode 16 sneak peek: Why April pushes Jackson

Leading up to tomorrow night, the Grey’s Anatomy season 13 episode 16 sneak peek below is one that serves as a very good deep-dive into the relationship between Jackson and April, and in a number of different ways. It shows the amount of influence that April does have over her ex, and it also shows her insistence on doing the job and making sure that it’s done properly.

In this preview, one of the things that you are specifically seeing is Jackson approach where his father apparently lives, and Sarah Drew’s character telling him time and time again that he needs to go in and have a conversation. If he doesn’t, he may be causing himself further pain in the long run. He won’t have the resolution that he needs on his past, and he also won’t be able to concentrate on the case that the two parties are in Montana to actually do.

Let’s talk for a minute about motive here. Do we think that April cares about Jackson still? Absolutely, and that’s why there is still a chance for some sort of romantic reunion down the line. The two are parents to a child, but what’s important here is that this preview is more about their relationship coming together organically. She knows that he needs this moment as a personal; we don’t know what the future will hold with it, but you have to give him credit for trying.

Meanwhile, you also can argue that April is doing this urging of Jackson just as much because she doesn’t want to deal with any more work scrutiny. Remember that he’s basically been on a see-saw when it comes to her job title ever since Meredith was temporarily suspended. We assume that she’d like to get some temporary stability there, and getting through this case successfully is a good way to do that. Unfortunately, Jackson’s holding her back — it may not be intentional, but it’s still happening.
