Shadowhunters season 2 episode 11: Who has the soul sword?

Now that we’re a week or so away from the midseason finale, we’ve got an opportunity to get a little bit of distance from Shadowhunters season 2 episode 11. With that, we also now have a chance to look ahead towards what could be an exciting, potentially-deadly second half of the season. There will be some carnage, and there’s also a mystery going into it: Who has the soul sword?

Well, maybe that mystery is not all that much of a mystery at all, given that every sign points to at the time the figure being Sebastian, a character we know already we’ll be seeing moving forward. He’s got a huge part in The Mortal Instruments saga, and we know he’s already been cast here. The showrunners certainly have it within them to change things up as they see fit, but it’s hard to blame anyone for the show wanting to do something different and surprise us … anything is still hypothetically possible.

Here’s what we do know. Speaking in a new interview with Access Hollywood, executive producer Matt Hastings had the following to say regarding the final shot of the first part of the season, and how the “who has the soul sword” mystery could play into some huge things starting with season Shadowhunters 2 episode 11 (read up more on the return date for the show by heading over to the link here):

“That very, very last shot is a pretty interesting shot. Like, who winds up with the Soul Sword? I think this character’s going to play a huge part in the summer season, and I think you’re not going to know if they’re good. I can’t really tip whether they’re good or bad, but just by the nature of the fact that they have one of the Mortal Instruments is going to be a danger to everybody. So, whether they use that force for good or for bad, we’ll find out.”

If that doesn’t give you a reason to be excited, what will? Everything on paper makes us more than a little bit excited to see precisely what’s going to be coming up.
