MasterChef Junior season 5 episode 5: Fire trucks and a team challenge (exclusive)
MasterChef Junior season 5 episode 5 is airing tonight on Fox, and to help you prepare, we’ve yet again got an exclusive sneak peek that we’re bringing to you below!
This preview gives you a sense of the team challenge that will be coming up tonight, one that begins with all of the remaining young cooks arriving to their location via fire trucks. Like with just about any kid out there, this is an exciting them for them to be a part of. They get to arrive to their location in an extremely unique way, and it looks like they’re outside of Los Angeles closer to the mountains. (That also probably means that it’s incredibly hot wherever they are — we’ve been in that climate!)
As for what the challenge will be, the easy guess is that maybe the kids are cooking in teams to impress a group of hungry firefighters. This is the sort of challenge you see all the time on MasterChef proper, and we get it. It’s a way to honor first responders who put their lives in danger, while also giving the contestants a difficult competition. These kids are used to only having to cook for a few people. This is easily their biggest challenge to date, and something that could push them.
As for the cuisine, we imagine that it’s probably going to be something that is American and traditional. When you’re cooking for a large group of people, you need something that is a little easier to master than Gordon Ramsay’s sea bass. Also, you do have to remember that you are outdoors here, and as a result of that you’ve got some limited options in terms of what you can effectively pull off. It’s rather difficult to many anything too gourmet in these conditions, even if you are a professional chef.
At the end of the episode, we expect that another two home cooks will be sent home, but we hope that everyone is reasonably successful in the process. This is a show where you do want to root for everyone to succeed!
