Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders season 2 episode 2 preview: Joe Mantegna and ‘Il Mostro’
There is one thing that this episode is going to have in common with the premiere, though: An appearance from one of the flagship show’s stars! Joe Mantegna is going to be bringing his role of David Rossi over to the series for the first time since the start of last season, though it’s not entirely clear why as of yet.
Synopsis – “When two casualties resemble the M.O. of the most notorious killer in Italian history, the International Response Team is called to investigate, on CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS, Wednesday, March 15 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. CRIMINAL MINDS star Joe Mantegna guest stars as David Rossi, and Paul Sorvino guest stars as Dr. Dominic Scarpa, a venerated surgeon connected to the original case.”
Why is the team being called over for this? It’s likely that the deceased were Americans who were on Italian soil at the time, and if this does turn out to be someone trying to emulate that said killer, the local authorities are probably going to need every bit of help that they can possibly get. Let’s be honest: Wouldn’t you want extra hands if you have a possible serial killer on the loose?
Given that there was no promo to share immediately following the episode tonight, it’s hard to get into any further detail about what’s coming up. We just hope that the show captures both the location and the crime, and that Mantegna’s appearance is more than a one-minute cameo designed in order to encourage people to watch.
Also, fingers crossed for the ratings tomorrow! The show did have the wonderful benefit of airing immediately following the two-hour Survivor: Game Changers premiere, so you do want to see it capitalize on that if it possibly can.

Tonight’s episode was Extremely boring. Penelope was underused the cast had a whole lot of nothing to do. No real action.,sense of dread etc. The unsub was a joke. Given the location of the story the dread ,jeopardy and action should have been pumped up the max.
