Supernatural season 12, episode 14 preview: Sam, Dean fight over Mary

Thursday night’s new episode of Supernatural is entitled “The Raid,” and there’s going to be some major family drama going down. The sneak peek below is proof of that.

What is much of it centering around? Think along the lines of one Mary Winchester. She’s shown herself time and time again to be a significant catalyst this season, but not always for good. As a matter of fact, Sam and Dean feel utterly betrayed by her. This is what in part the latest sneak peek is all about. The two brothers are debating what to do with her in the wake of everything going down with the British Men of Letters, and they are at odds … significantly. Sam is more keen to give Mary the benefit of the doubt, given that she is their mother and probably wouldn’t do anything to deliberately hurt them. Let’s just say that Dean now has a slightly different approach to the subject. He wants some real answers, and doesn’t appreciate Sam being so wishy-washy on the subject of his mother’s behavior.

This episode is probably going to be a turning point for most of the major characters this season, especially when it comes to the Winchester operation moving forward. Of course, Sam and Dean both want the relationship with Mary to work out, but at the same time they also don’t want it to come at their own expense. For the time being, there are still significant concerns about her presence. Not only that, but there are some other loose ends, including Castiel, that need to be resolved before things start to get a little bit better.

In the end, nobody likes to see the brothers fight, but it’s better that the two get their feelings out there rather than staying silent about them. We feel like we’ve already got a well-documented history of what happens when they choose to hide their feelings, and it never ends well for anyone.
